Notes About The Poem

Ekphrasis 12 Line Max

New Year’s Eve

I need to feel the trade winds blow
To know they have my heart in tow,

Here in the twilight of this hour
I feel the grandeur of God’s power.

The Sun, a ball of golden fire
Rises with my heart’s desire

That this New Year will offer love
As Sol begins to rise above.

How wonderful, the winter sky—
With mist filled clouds that float on by.

Sweet birds of beauty on the wing,
Portends the gifts New Year will bring.

I love this one..Couplets can be very hard to write I think..they often turn out trite and forced. This one is great..congrats. Barbara

I appreciate that Barbara. I know what you mean, sometimes one line can ruin a really good poem. Thanks a lot. Cheers, Connie XXOO

I have no problems going to 'edit' for my alterations but if you try and copy and paste it back to word you loose the formatting and get a horrid shadow over each letter - just the site's way to stop people plagerising our poems lol - wish someone thought mine good enough to copy lol:-) Hugs jan xx

Thank you Jan. Something is wrong with the page when I try to edit. Not sure how to fix it or who to even ask? I really don't want to delete it and start over. Thank you for letting me know the contest was listed. Hugs, Connie

connie, just saw your note to me. I bet there is an easy explanation why your contest did not post. Probably has to do with the way you wrote the date. If you go back to it, you can sometimes see what you did wrong with the date. it happens to me all the time. I still have not thought what I can do for this particular contest. I suppose I will miss it. Luv, Andrea
