Eight Words

Contest: Eight Words Sponsor: Emile Pinet 6-16-23 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Eight Words WISTFUL FEELINGS, An expression of MELANCHOLY DEPRESSION, Wake in winsome gloom of a GLOOMY sheath Cluttered with roving remnants Of GRIM recollections That SHROUD an anguished woundedness In WITHDRAWN silence To bind my sores with loneliness, With isolation’s balm, Untouchable. My world gone topsy-turvy Turns to the melody of living sonatas In chiming morningtide psalms And eventide’s bell songs To leave behind the bondage Of this shattered shell, This tattered cocoon of silken sutures. Beyond the pensive dreamscape This realm of gloom fades, Screeches back into midnight’s stronghold, Forgotten in azure morning shadows, When resplendent neon pinions Unfold kaleidoscopic Into giddy, gliding joy.

Hi Sam, This is an amazing poem here. I loved so much of how you took the reader to the depths of despair, "the tattered cocoon of silken sutures" such wonderful imagery. Good luck and God bless you and your writing.

Hi Nancy, I am so grateful for your lovely message! Thank you. These prompt words really took me on a journey into that dark place called despair where hopelessness lives. But, they also took me into a place where healing and new life happens - a place of healing sleep and metamorphosis. This turned out to be a joyful journey in the end. Sending you blessings of grace and peace..

Dear Lasaad! I am so deeply touched by your feedback to this poem. Somehow these eight words seemed to be like a puzzle pieces that fit together to form the warp and woof of this poem. I couldn't help but think of a cocoon and the butterfly inside waiting for new birth. This image kept floating through my mind. As always, so grateful for your thoughtful message! You always take time plumb the heart of a poem. Blessings dear friend!
