Egads and Little Fishes

“Egads and little fishes” Reminds me of my dear old mum Covering her head uttering this phrase Thunder made her come undone Terrified by each electrical storm Dear mum would nearly passed out With thunder, lightning, and pelting rain She'd cower in a corner throughout Really felt bad, she was truly scared Tried hard not to laugh at the sight Of mum with her apron over her head Praying hard with all of her might Things that happen during childhood days Stay with us as by us life swishes I'll always remember mum's little saying “Egads and little fishes” © Jack Ellison 2013

You bugger, you!!! I was laughing all the way through. I could picture this old lady warding off a thunderstorm with an apron over her head. Nice one, Jack. :)

My mom loves thunderstorms (her mom bursts out in tears at the sound of them, however). I have really no idea what Egads and Little Fishes could possibly mean... but it does make me curious. I could laugh like you do at the way my mom scurries from mice as if they are a pride of wild lions, lol... though she could attack back, throwing me a hive of bees (my irrational fear)...

"Egads and little fishes" is from a different era I guess! LOL Bee hives scare the hell out of me too and I'm not wild about mice either! Although running into a rat is not my idea of fun either!

Cute one..Yes, those storms are something that bring fear and they are powerful and need to be respected..God kept her safe in spite of her fear..Enjoyed reading this morn..When the thunder gives a big boom sometimes I jump especially if it is an unexpected rumble..Sara
