Economic Racism Would a person be a lesser human being If they were to replace the iron links Around their necks with gold chains, Or the shackles on their wrists and ankles, With gold bracelets? Would they be considered compromised To the devil in exchange for indulgence? Would a person be any less a Christian By questioning God’s omnipotence When expressing sympathy for the devil; And accept justifications for tyrant behaviours For conquering lands and subduing the inhabitants And replacing them with foreigners, And exploiting the indigenous peoples’ resources? Ah! But you say, “Look at the good.” When the lamb is slaughtered Should sheep praise the butcher? Capitalism is an inherited proposition, Rooted in racism based on economic exploitation. Ah! But you say, “It is the best there is; Sit back, relax, and enjoy the situation.” So, the old is recycled until leveraged no more And new money is printed, used to steal from others (By fudging numbers based on projections to make it work.) While the system’s puppeteers expound on theologies and ideologies Using chemicals to brainwash children while praising dictators (As if champions of equality in the power struggle) To erase individual identities, to appease them, their masters; Some things change, and some things never.
