Echoes

echoes bouncing off of bone
simple, complex, good or bad
don't consider, won't condone
and speak
     aloud
          alone.

paltry, partial, pundit, known
whatever can be had
no weaknesses; no mercy shown
just shout
     aloud
          alone.

a bully pulpit, guilded throne
silly, stupid, sad,
opinion from the glitter dome
they scream
     aloud
          alone.

intelligence is born alone
of truth? Well, truth is sad
echoes bouncing off of bone
will cry
     aloud
          alone.

The truth "echoes" off the bones because people don't want to believe it, Wayne. Especially, words that come harshly from the "bully pulpit or guilded throne." But more often than not, those words are not true. Very thought-provoking poem! Love, Carolyn

We absorb only what we want to hear -- some of it is truth and some of it is lies. It's too bad we often can't differentiate and keep the echoes from "bouncing off of bone." Cool write, Wayne!
