Eccentric

eccentricity
defines chihuahua hairy....
hikes everywhere now
heart disease kills our small dogs
congenital defect ~me   


I learn almost 10 years ago that I have a congenital heart defect plus a tumor in the wall of my heart. I now have the third dog dying with heart problems. It is so hard watching them slowly die.

oh how very sad, Sara. Is that picture your dog? He is so adorable and reminds me a little bit of my beloved Ollyver, who died years ago.

Thank you, Andrea. No, this is not our male Chihuahua but I am sure this is what he was supposed to look like. Someone put him out at our home soon will be seven years ago. The vet said he had no way of knowing how old he was but we think he was at least 4 at the time and could have been older. I think he was probably abused in some way and probably not fed very well. He was around the house for two weeks (as best we could tell) before he would let anyone have anything to do with him. He was down to 3 lbs. by the time he would come to us, and we started feeding him what he needed to eat. He gained up to 7 lbs., but he doesn't weight that now. He has refused meds for two days now, but I got a pill in him about 30 minutes ago, but he will probably have to go to the vet tomorrow and get another shot. Sara

Sara I had a Pomeranian chi and I wrote a Narrative on this exact condition. What we went through in his las hours. Reading this Tanka opened the flood gates to my eyes. The dog in the picture looks very similar to Booboo. When my wife wakes up I will share this with her. I'm sure it will bring her to tears again. Michael, Thank you for stopping by and taking time to comment in such a kind way. I could not get my pet to take his meds yesterday evening. I have not been able to get him to take it this morning. I hope maybe if I withhold his meal at lunch by night he will be hungry enough to take the pill. He was doing this before he got really bad off and had to have the shots so I hope we are not headed for another bout of going to the vet. Sara

it is a heartwrenching process to watch your beloved dog to go through. I am so sorry you have to go through it. Remember Sara when it is over he will not suffer any longer. I am sorry for your condition and I will be praying for you and your beloved Pet. Always have hope and know that our Lord can change any circumstance through prayer. Thank you, Jack. Little aggressive barking and biting Chihuahua seems to be doing well today. He has eaten fairly well which is good for him. He is sleeping right this minute but a few minutes before he was trying to bark thunder away. Sara

Victor, I am sure in a few weeks that we will need to have him put down. That is awful to have to be faced then done and the reality set in. My husband has said we will not get another pet so that will be even harder for me. Thanks for the visit.

My first dog to die from heart problems with a rat terrier. Tommy (my husband) loved that dog(he was 14). The next was the one I loved most a female Chihuahua and she only lived 10 years. Someone dropped the male Chihuahua we have now off here and I have no idea how old he is. SK

This is the third one that we have enjoyed the company of in the last 25 or 30 years but all have come down with heart problems. The Chihuahua or some Chihuahuas have an inherited defect. Hairy is our last one. I have to give him medicine twice daily which isn't easy, but we are doing okay with it so far and he will have to see the vet about 2 monthly now to see how he is coming along.
