Easy Heart

And this is why
I have decided
To leave
It there

Incongruity meets ignorance
Your charms fall short
Your words scar
Unobtrusively

Insistently 
You choose to see
Through the lens
Of yourself, and
Nowhere close to me

You choose to be
Fooled
By exactly what I am—
To the unthinking,
Merely
Another

Uncertainty meets unrest
Your heart beats much too
Near yourself
Comfortably, 
Conveniently

And this is why
I have decided
To leave
It there

James Inman October 5, 2016 at 7:24 AM An interestingly deep write Laura. Your words suggest an unknowingly self centered individual but your fourth stanza twists this idea and makes me almost feel as if he sees you in his own light, not wanting to look deeper for fear of realizing that you are not who he believes you to be, scared, perhaps, that he can't accept the real you. Your layout is wonderfully conceived making the reader follow your intended flow forcing emphasis on specific words.
