DUST PIXIES-Alpha Lines Poetry Contest

DUST PIXIES INSIDE GRANNY’S CEDAR CHEST 
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amidst the ancient whispers of timeworn wood,
     underneath time and the cedar’s scent
          a gathering of dust pixies flutters, luminescent.
               adventurous, bubbly, curious, daring, effervescent.     

Their xerophytic murmurs fill the attic air;
     dancing on sunbeams upon gossamer wings,
          these aerial acrobats ballet on dust motes illuminantly.
               flecks glimmer, hundreds invade jubilantly. 

Prismatic creatures of color, lively as summer’s breeze,
     they celebrate the dust, mundane
          journeying through mystical realms where they reign. 
               kaleidoscopic, luminous, microscopic, numerous, opulent.

Zipping back into the cedar’s shadows,
     innocent guardians of memories hide in forgotten linens,
          their fleeting glimpse of magic locked away.
               playful, quirky, restless, synchronous, twinkletoes

Joe Dimino Date: 8/22/2025 9:21:00 PM One need only open an old chest, or flip on the light in an attic, to dearly journey back in time. Every scrap of clothing, old photograph is a life and a history. Essence remains. Newly turned into a late night writing sanctuary, when I fell asleep on a sofa in a backroom, I started having half-awake dreams of an old American Indian talking to me. He seemed trapped. Painfully out of place. After this went on for several nights, I finally told my wife the strange incident. I especially liked the 'cowboy uncle' and his ascension story. Wow! How inspirational. Joe Dimino Date: 8/22/2025 9:22:00 PM Turns out, she had some very old Indian items, long forgotten in a file draw, a headdress and eagle claw necklace her cowboy uncle had acquired somehow in the late 1800's, items that had belonged to a medicine man. Well, next night I helped him ascend in prayer. His spirit was the size of a mountain as he lifted into the sky.
