Dust Off Your Hat and Pray

However winds may blow On this old rugged trail Drowning in desert sand Caught in fires of rain Saddle up your horse to leave Before the break of day Dust off your hat and pray Ride on Cowboy While sun lights up the way A cyclone is growing yonder Ride winds of change However winds may blow On this old rugged trail In tumbling weeds of heartache Trapped in worlds of pain Saddle up your horse to leave Before the break of dawn Dust off your hat and pray RIDE ON COWBOY Night will soon be here RIDE ON COWBOY DUST OFF YOUR HAT AND PRAY

I REALLY like this poem. It is beautiful and expressively symbolic. I especially like "tumbling weeds of heartache." Janice

me too... My favorite line is Dust off your hat and pray... those two lines are original...probably the very few I have that can't be picked off the shelves...Thanks Janice

Beautiful and expressive, Arturo. The music and your lyrics go well together. The child in me still yankers for those entertaining cowboy films....which reminds me that Clint Eastwood is 90 years old today! Regards // paul

Yes, this was a fortunate one...It's galloped straight out of my head...and I got some original lines out of it...well, two lines...the title and tumbling weeds of heartache...

A soulful cowboy riding in the dust and sunset - love cowboy films but this is a definite possibility fora country and western series! "Dust off your hat and pray" - Ride on Cowboy - love it! Blessings, and hugs, Jennifer. (A Fave.)

No, the music is not mine... I usually search for background music to add to my verses...I could spend hours trying to find a suitable instrumental... I was fortunate with "A warrior for love" and now this one...I've done 32 mini videos...on YOUTUBE...and got two perfect, after learning the cut and paste method ... by the way...there's no copywriter restriction if chosen from YouTube library...Thanks my friend

I like the rugged, stoic feel of this - it makes me think of 'My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys' by Willie Nelson-

Hello Arturo!! Thanks for your recent comment on one of my latest poems!! When I read the words and verses of "DUST OFF YOUR HAT AND PRAY," the words and imagery of your poem actually brought to my mind several of the famous "Clint Eastwood" westerns that he both played in and directed. At least, this was my first impression. Most Excellent Work as always Arturo!! Best Wishes, Gary

Rose Puddles is amazing! Thank you for asking. Had her bad toe amputated this winter, and again, we have to knock years off her estimated age. Wish they could tell us when they are in pain. ~x

I had to go look for my most precious old poetry book to find the poem you reminded me of with this, "The Raiders", by Will H. Ogilvie. Thank you my friend!
