Dust From the Past

Dust from the past, layered in youths callow Desperate to be forgiven, for sins committed Wrongs done in ignorance should be omitted Dust from the past, covers the shallow Fear of failure, insecure self worth Heat needs to rise from this emotional hearth Dust from the past, it casts a shadow Anxious to wash it away, make it clean Start over, be clearly seen To late...

This so much reminds me of myself. I did many wrongs in ignorance and, if I'm right in assuming this is you, then you're certainly on the road to self-redemption. Nice work :)

Unfortunately, we cannot reboot or reformat ourselves and erase the past. Letting go of your past so it does not define you, gives you opportunities to create new futures. How you do this depends if you need to forgive or be forgiving. When we choose not to forgive, we remain stuck and it's our problem. If one sincerely asks for forgiveness and you are not forgiven, that's all you can do, you need to move on. The past is the past and can become a distant memory. Thank you for sharing your poem.
