Dust and Ash

Dust & Ash Meteors falling from the sky like stars sparkling in the night. The volcano’s dust forms below Iceland’s clouds. Life stops. Pilots stand. Air traffic is discontent, as the volatile atmosphere erupts. Through the blocking of the sun, volcanic ash plumes. The earth will be cool for a year or two. A washout will come. Iceland’s dust and ash – gone. __________________________/ *About This Poem: Volcanic ash plume from Cleveland Volcano, located on Chuginadak Island in the Aleutian Island Chain off Alaska. Unique construction. Excitement composed with so few words...the hardest to achieve and you do so with talent and aplomb. I enjoyed this, Verlena. YF (from Ms) Gene Bourne.

Hi Verlena, Congrats on your placement. I well remember the ash cloud fallout covering my car at the time. Enjoyed your creative view, from a pilot's close-up advantage point, in your descriptive poem. Well done. Regards Theresa xx

wow, so this is a recent thing? Reminds me of the movie I saw last night about Pompeii and its destruction by a volcano. That would have made a great poem for saddest landscape as well!!

Dear Verlana - Wow, you bring me right into the scene. I love "life stops pilots stand" Four short words show the broader picture. Nature humbles us all. love, Kathy

The Volcanic ash is a reminder of Nature that we should not destroy the Nature to such an extent that it's anger bursts in the form of volcanic disaster. You have beautifully created the image of Volcanic eruption. My good wishes for your contest entry my new friend and thank you once again for your kind words on my Mulberry & Summerdays Poems.
