Duplicity of the Wind

The wind seems a song of placidity As it passes through the meadow near But I know it’s a harbinger of treachery Soon, from sudden blasts of Arctic air. They say a snowstorm is imminent We must quickly prepare for the worst A drop in the barometer is prominent, And folks in our area are well-versed. The grocer’s shelves are nearly bare Of staples like bread, milk, and cheese, The wind has begun to pick up there In the meadow and through the trees.

Times are changing; it is frightening, and the world seems colder. "But I know it’s a harbinger of treachery" - I really enjoyed this one!

Milton, you've written an excellent poem. In conjunction with the tilt of the earth axle, the weather has altered. Today's temperature is in the 20s, but it seems like it's 12 degrees with the wind. Best Regards

The weather has changed with the tilt of the earth axle. Last year in Feb. the weather was so cold, electricity out for a week, but stayed warm with hot water on my gas stove. Thank goodness I love to read. When little brother took off a towel from a wrapped pipe a frozen mouse was found. Stay warm.. May your new year be a blessed one.

Aw, thanks, Eve. I'm hopeful that we won't lose electricity. If we do, however, I have a gas fireplace. I cannot cook, but I can stay warm! Thanks for your well-wishes.

Thanks, Lin. I think I'm well-prepared. I'll be really happy if we don't lose power.
