Duck In a Dark City Lake
DUCK IN A DARK CITY LAKE
Small and dark, materializing in the lake
From the seamless blue black, the sprite
Curved her path, leaving a gleaming wake,
Its shimmering droplets of light
Like a comet’s streaming tail in the night,
A tracery glorious and ephemeral, enhanced
With diamonds in rippling strands a-gleam
Behind her - in unison they danced,
One by one fading into the void and velvet stream -
Till her orbit’s remains were only a dream.

NOTE
Magnificent beauty is all around, even in the simplest events,
like this small duck swimming in a dark lake.
