Drink

We are not objective when it serves us.
Weighing scripture carefully, thoughtfully.
Yes, it hurts,
it stabs with two-jagged sides.
But, what is its worth?
It gets all of us
blasphemers, idol worshippers, adulterers,
   thieves, liars, coveters, pleasure-seekers
      and the lot.
It hurts…it hurts.
It helps,
   it moves us
      away from danger
He saves us,
heals us through purification of truth.
We don’t want the angels circling,
   saying,
“Woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth…”
Instead, I’d rather be invited
into His kingdom,
oh how precious those jewels, those riches
that we gave up
in order to have it all.
Guess what? You can have it all!
Not the sad imitation, impression, bare bones,
but the great euphoria of the highest heaven.
We’ll bow.
We will all bow.
Some will bow in great delight.
The rest, in great remorse.
The test is now.
It is not a trick.
Right now, God is an open book.
Take a look, long as if thirsty,
unregrettably searching
for that
which you would sell all for.
Don’t sell your soul to whoever you think your god is.
Instead submit to the One who made you
and longs to give you true and abiding everlasting love.
Drink!

Prior to reading this today, was just in a 2 hour discussion, as both devils advocate and otherwise. Don't the correlation but enjoyed the read itself. If I may?? He saves us; heals us through purification of truth. We don't want the Angels circling, Saying wow, wow to the inhabitants of earth. Instead, I'd rather be invited... Right on

I sure was expecting something else when viewing the poem's title. And I got - something else!

Of living water! Amen. Beautiful and true words my dear friend. My greatest regret in the first 80 years of life. Falling into temptation and believing the illusions of this world. Even after accepting His gift of eternal life, I still have not been all He intended me to be. It's all about our spiritual relationship, not the pleasures of this world. Thank for the reminder, Kim. Great poem / a FAV. Your poet friend in Texas, Bill
