Drenched, But Drying

DRENCHED, BUT DRYING Waiting for the clouds to roll away On this bright and sunny day I didn’t make the rain myself You helped The drums are thundering again Yet only I feel the repercussions So sick of being the only one wet But there’s only so soaked a person can get I spoke the unthinkable I drank the undrinkable I sank into black I broke my own back Out of the flood, a phoenix will rise Setting fire to cloudy skies And vultures circling this spot Leave the carrion to rot Carry on with what I’ve got
