Dreams Dissolve

You're eager to challenge fate; with lies disguised as the truth. And you shield yourself from hate with the innocence of youth. Tattoos display anger's mark; inked with a defiant tear. And blood badges, crude and stark, pictograph, a life of fear. Feelings memories impart make you want to run and hide. For deep in a troubled heart, sadness drains egos of pride. Hope fades under neon light; dreams dissolve, and trust erodes. And friends, ingested by night; are consumed by hungry roads.

Sad how people make the choices that lead them of live in the shadows of the night (day and night). I love that much of your poetry deals with marginal or forgotten people of society.

My youngest daughter leaves for college in two weeks. Have I prepared her for the world you depict here? An extremely well written poem, Emile, to have evoked the anxiety I feel right now. -- Dean

Emile you have such great insight into things and the ability to put truth into words and show others. This is very well done. Sad it is, we can feel it.
