I wrote this poem as a young girl the day before my 17th birthday. I just came out as if dictated... it was the closest thing to a channelling that I have ever felt.

Listen to poem:
It’s a cold and bloody war The heart has known many a fear... The eye shed many a tear And dreams in wrecks have drifted back to shore The war has been extensive, tumultuous in the mind Towering over the weariness daubed across grey skies Are only rare moments of joy fugitive that arise Within the wall of the heart confined It’s a cold and bloody war The heart has known many a fear... The eye shed many a tear And dreams in wrecks have drifted back to shore I lead the brave but less cogent troops, with charged bosom Knowing the sweet cry of victory will ne’er be sung My blood’s infected with frustration’s venom The foretaste of defeat is bitter upon my tongue It’s a cold and bloody war The heart has known many a fear... The eye shed many a tear And dreams in wrecks have drifted back to shore Out of despair I summon the troops to retreat I recede to safe haven to draw a curtain I quest horizons more promising to greet And again engage in battle of victory uncertain It’s a cold and bloody war The heart has known many a fear... The eye shed many a tear And dreams in wrecks have drifted back to shore Read on air by invitation ~ April 14, 2021 'WORDS & MUSIC' AP: 2nd place 2022,Honorable Mention 2020, Honorable Mention 2021 Submitted on December 23, 2018 for contest 2019 POETRY MARATHON MILE 2 sponsored by MARK TONEY - RANKED 2ND on December 3, 2018 for contest I CANNOT BELIEVE I WROTE THAT POETRY sponsored by NINA PARMENTER and on December 7, 2017 for contest PREMIERE NO.115 sponsored by BRIAN STRAND

Congrats in the marathon, Line. you entered wisely with this one. I see now that you wrote how it came to you as "channeling" when you were young of age, and it truly was an inspired poem.

this one was ok ... then we seen your "Brian stran" and wondered ... why ... ok ... well ... also ... seen your use of dots ... as if you were trying to confuse some one ... or perhaps you have a dot twitch ... a style is a style ... if you copy a style what does that make you ... you seem to have some sense as far as words ... we usually read a write until we figure ... however in this case that "Brian strand" ... along with dots made me blink ... so ... ok ... how's it now ... may we call you

I think the poem trumps the rules. The poem lasts long after the contest. This piece is well expressed.

Line, this is a well written poem on a cold and bloody war. The last line of the refrain is so great . All those broken dreams! I am not positive, but I think Brian always asks for less than 25 lines of poetry. I hope you can have good luck in his contests. One never knows how they will fare in a contest of Brian's!

Since the refrain is actually a repeat... oh well, we'll see... keeps life interesting. Thanks so much for your visit, Andrea.
