Dreams Are Merely Fiction

`

Maple leaf wishes fall,
scattered about a silent lawn
framing pathways hidden beneath
blankets of decaying sorrow

I wander with eyes closed
for to see means to cry among these
shadows creeping in deep tones
as my thoughts once again fade into you

Northern borders point fingers
with emptiness as their focus for
where I sit, I sit alone wondering
does the thought of us still exist

And as the moon rises, it is no
longer a poem waiting to be written
but just a blurred reminder
of something once shared

Broken branches are now my bed,
though sleep is useless
for all I see is you and me
before waking to the reality that

happiness is for others,
dreams are merely fiction and
sometimes love is not enough
and never will be again

Yes, the dreams we sleep are fiction, and some of the ones we yearn for too.. but some are not and those are the ones we achieve... some great lines in your poem and imagery as always.. another great poem from your pen.. Congratulations on your first place in the contest..

Maple leaf wishes fall almost awakening the thoughts of a delicious breakfast. You ask, “does the thought of us still exist” and I think somehow it must. Somewhere out there (as the song goes) where dreams do come true...where past relationships, life before death still do exist at there best. I must believe the precipice of all love resides on that lovely mountain...heaven, perhaps!

Thank you my friend. I appreciate your wonderful comments always on my work. There was a time when the moon meant a poem everyday from my pen but sadly it doesn't have the same affect on me as much anymore. Hopefully it returns.
