Painting: "Unknown Places"  by  Monika Luniak

Dreaming of Yesterday's Wine Sitting alone at the edge of the ocean breathing the mist and the brine; pondering deeply the seas endless motion while dreaming of yesterday’s wine. Ocean breeze blowing through golden locks flowing over her shoulders divine. Missing caresses and love always showing while dreaming of yesterday’s wine. Tenderness traded their passions they sated under the moons gentle shine; longing for rewind of moments created and dreaming of yesterday’s wine. One day it happened temptation came calling beckoning seemed so benign ‘twas but an omen of times so appalling now dreaming of yesterday’s wine. Love they once shared now just memories pondered, moments in time left behind; thinking so sadly her love that was squandered and dreaming of yesterday’s wine.

Great poem, John! It reminds me of that song, "Wine and Roses". Sadly, so many of us miss those yesterdays of wine and roses. Congrats on your win.

So awesome. you took this kind of the way I am contemplating doing it (lost love theme). I want to do kyrielle style. yours is like modernized version of kyrielle style and i really like that.

How skillfully you create the "longing for rewind" this woman is experiencing. The beach is a perfect setting as that's where many go to relive past moments of happiness and dream of what might have been. A beautiful story of love and loss unfolds while she dreams of "yesterday's wine." Stunning, John. Best wishes in the contest, my friend. Hugs, Carolyn

Love is like the wind, holding you so close- so tight, or softly sweeping over your skin- just enough to create a memory. Leaving you with an ache, your heart longing for so much more. You have expressed this emotion perfectly my dear friend. This is sad, but beautiful, all at the same time. ~ Brandy
