Dream of Death

I dreamt my father came to me
From beyond the grave words spoken
He held my hand and said to me
Your life cycle has broken

Mom sent me here to fetch you
And take you home to heaven
I rejoiced and hugged my Dad
Eager to see my late folks and husband

But before I could get dressed to leave
My father had departed
Does he still wait to take me home?
Answer, Dad, I'm broken hearted

To join all my loved ones in the afterlife
Brings great joy to me, no fear
So I will sleep lightly again tonight
In hopes Dad will reappear

Wow, just found your poem, Carolyn!! I can relate. My dad passed too soon, 52 years old. He comes to me in dreams. This always leaves me a little sad but still wanting to see him again the next night. I find solace in knowing we will see our loved ones again very soon. Isn't it wonderful to love life and have no fear of death at the same time? I do not look at what or who God has taken but what He has given me. I had the greatest dad for thirty years. He was agift. I can tell your's was, too. Blessings, Rhonda

C.D. A darkly longing write of loss and desire for reclamation. May I offer, that it isn't up to the father, but the father's father, when time's up. Nice quatrians. ;-)

This is beautiful somehow, Carolyn. I have this kind of dream before. Sometimes, if we miss them too much, they'll come to our dream just to say hi, or even encourage us. For we all know, they taking care of us from above. Congrats on your great win. Dinda :)

Wow, this one is amazing - and love from Sweetie too! I'm sure you will be with your loved ones again some day, Carolyn. My gran's youngest brother died of TB in the war, and he told her just seconds before he died that their mother had come and that there was a long tunnel. The Birdcage sounds wonderful. Sue sensed a presence in one of the corridors at Hampton Court Palace, and then the tour guide said, 'This area is reputedly haunted...'

this one is special to me. it is also sad but it still makes me smile without barely even flexing a cheek muscle. I read your poems quite a lot and I don't even really like to read much these days. There are quite a bit of people who have been really nice to me on here. You are one. I read so I can learn how it should be done. ~JSLambert

Hi, Carolyn. Looks like I'll be going back into your poetry pages to find ones to respond to now. Yes, it was thrilling to me to see the three poems made it thru the first round. I hope yours did as well? I gotta check all of them out but right now I am just up too late here and need to hurry off. Well, I enjoyed this one about your spooky tale!! Luv Andrea

Spooky. Well, yes indeed it is good to know we'll be with our loved ones in the afterlife, but don't wish for your Dad to return to come and get you, your life is not over just yet. A fun write, well written and rhymed. Thanks for sharing and thank God you survived that storm, sailorwoman. Thanks for your comments. Love and blessings, Caroline.

I am sorry about your relative when you heard his voice one last time on the phone. My husband does have a plane to catch at the end of the month. I am praying before he goes, for him to be safe, by the way this poem is good! Erin
