Drained

Drained,
unoccupied thoughts
form empty sadness

Drained
of those moments
now never again

Drained,
what little is left
will soon evaporate

Drained,
smiles are forgotten
frowns become the norm

Drained
of that voice
sung in times of need

Drained,
drab wilted flowers
where pinks and yellows once bloomed

Drained,
sunny days now darken
neath clouded dreams

Drained,
never to be full ...
again

A frightening thought, "never to be full again". How can one e so emptied?

Chris I am sure this is the feeling you are experiencing because of your loving Mother's passing? I did feel drained too, how can one not when such a loving and strong bond is broken? Take heart, you are not alone my friend. You described your feelings so well..Maria

For me, the lines, smiles are forgotten, frowns become the norm, sum it up. The message is clear, hoping it will turn around.

This plays between good moments and bad ones which makes me think which one is the poem about. Yes, drained. But so for bad moments that will not come back again, or good ones past and gone and not to return? Tanks and take care. Luis Estable

A heavy toll has been taken, Chris. The emptiness you feel is perfectly normal, but you're not broken and not really empty. I'm in agreement with John. Keep writing your thoughts. It's a healing process; a slow one, but it does help.

It takes time to feel better, I do understand how you feel, keep writing no matter what and keep sharing, at some point your purpose will be clear again, and happy memories will begin to dominate your thoughts, nice to see you posting Chris, take care!
