Down That Lane

DOWN THAT LANE I have been walking down this lane all day Alone, looking across hoping to find some gems filled in a box of silver grey My legs ache yet I must go through this grind If I miss this walk sleep eludes my eyes As I remain awake and stare at walls Just turning in bed, heaving some deep sighs Unable to get up when morning calls A ray of hope still lingers in me though That one day the treasure will be found I shall stroke it with love and let tears flow Keep it close never let it move around You may well have guessed what it means to me That box has long lost childhood memories.
