Down Another Rabbit Hole
Muse 1 to Muse 2: "I wonder what it's like in the rabbit burrow"
Muse 2 replied: "Stand a little closer. I'll be happy to kick you in"
Muse 1 with trusting innocence: "Can I let you know tomorrow?"
Muse 2 just rolled her eyes, trying to conceal a Cheshire Cat grin
I warned in lines of, 'Go Ask Alice,' exactly what you'd find
down a rabbit hole. I said its depth would devour your soul
If you ignore this advice, your life will be cursedly confined
You can't break free of the warden's warren. He's in control
Another prisoner of addiction, like those in a California hotel
known as the house with a thousand mirrored-ceiling rooms
Sign in and you can never leave. You'll be captive of the spell
Ask Alice. She's trippin' in the woods, searching for shrooms
If you continue your journey down that dark desert highway
You'll be greeted with pink champagne when you first arrive
then taken down a dark maze inside. They'll invite you to stay
Kill the beast and you'll be released, if you want to survive
Lewis Carroll's tale is a fable; a dark satire written in allegory
"How long is forever, Rabbit?" asked Muse One, just for fun
Muse Two answered on the run, "Sometimes just one second."
It's profound that his words reveal the valid moral of the story -
You can't tell seconds from years, once the hare has beckoned
This was not written for any contest.
It's a follow-up to my 'Go Ask Alice.'
