Doves Take the Sky

Doves Take the Sky

The spirit of the dying
Dances to the rhythmic flow of life
Snapshots capture memories of past times
Kept alive and cherished in the heart and mind

Loved ones gather ‘round
And pick up the broken pieces left behind
Forming a timeless collage
Reminiscing on the good times
Keeping it bright for the sake of the dying light

A familiar, sacred place
The veil growth thin at the end
Loose is the grasp for hold of embrace
Of planet earth

Loved ones who have crossed over appear from
Cracked windows , opened doors and ladders
To secure the passage to yonder place

A slight nod of acknowledgement and understanding
Nearing the end , reaching out into the distance

Time stood still, frozen in place
With every blink of his eyes
And every breath his lungs did provide
Holding on to forever

Just as the dreaded final breath comes nonetheless

Stars of candlelight awaken the night

Dawn of day arose from the grave

Doves take to the sky
Circling purple and gray clouds

In came the waves that swept him away
To the sweet waters of heaven’s gate
