Dolce Far Niente

Dolce far niente – it’s sweet
to do simply nothing. So say
those who find idleness a treat.
We should try this Italian way!

For a change – eat lunch all alone.
Dolce far niente – it’s sweet.
Turn off the TV and cell phone.
Meal time does not have to be fleet.

Take your lover’s hand; walk the street.
Leave behind dishes in the sink.
Dolce far niente – it’s sweet
to pass time not just in a blink.

Feel no guilt just to sit outside.
Neighbors with a smile you can greet.
Dream a little dream; in peace abide.
Dolce far niente – it’s sweet.

I don't know if i could do or be like this Italian saying or how they think. TV relaxes me from our business especially Netflix and Showmax. Turn off my cell phone, i would lose half our business or more, a Matron phoned me at 6.45am yesterday morning to find her a unit manager for her Theater. there is competition in business, any business, thankful that cell phones are around and dishes in the sink, I could never relax, VIRGO remember! I would probably live longer if I did - i think your poem is too cute Andrea my friend, the Greeks in Greece are pretty much the same but the Greeks here in South Africa are workaholics.
