Do you think out a poem?
Make little notes?
Have a list of words?
Rhyming words or vocabulary words?
Do you take your time?
Do you stare at each line?
Do the poems come hard?
Or do you just spit them out and wonder 
where the hell they came from?

I do read some of my poems back and wonder how did I come up with that, sometimes think I get caught up in the moment and write subconsciously, others need a format and plan, damn that’s a tough question, cheers David

My easiest poems just assert themselves. The hardest ones require thought, effort, rewriting, more editing, etc. And, yes, I do wonder where some of them come from? Love your questions in this poem. / Maurice

love this, caren! i never make notes or have a list of words but it's great when i can just "spit them out" - that's not usually the case, though...

I have lists going up and down notebooks, in corners of my mind, and under my keyboard. Especially rhyming lists. I love doing them.

I don’t write a lot of poetry but when I do they tend to spring up from a calm and meditative space. There is usually some fine tuning involved but my poems tend to be short and come together fairly quickly.

After writing my latest short poem... I should correct my response. When I post a new poem I will sometimes second guess my work, edit and change it completely over the next 24 hrs ;)
