Do I Like Muslims

Do I like Muslims?

A Christ was born to lead a way
To alter what the Jews had taught
But there would come a time someday
His teachings would be all for naught

Religiously, politically
He gave his life for his belief
The Catholics came to give relief
THEN
A Messenger of God had come
To spread the word to all his tribes
recorded by his fervent scribes
And founded Islam as the word

Muhammed’s word is now in strife
With terror and the loss of life
The media has taken hold
Including those not in their fold

We must give credence to the theme
That man is safe within his soul
And this should be his only dream
That friendship is the only goal

Religion spanned two thousand years
With blessings and a flood of tears
A prayer to Him to make things right
So we can scan a better light

Do I like Muslims, you would ask
Whose hand I shake I’m not aware
His ethnic group or creed to care
That would not be my greatest task

To those who falsely preach Islam
Upon the bodies laid to rest
Whose life is just a fallen palm
Allah will take them to His breast

Hi Patricia: You are right that so many ethnic groups have been type cast over the years mostly out of ignorance. I thank God that I lived long enough to unleash my prejudices.

I can only say well done Ralph! I find the term Muslim has been used out of context in the media. A generic for all people of the middle east. It behooves us to take on the responsibility to be decerning and try to understand the faith of Islam. It reminds me of another term from not too long ago 'Irish' which was interpreted as a brawling drunk with a big family. When will we learn to understand before we speak.

Hi Patricia: You are so right in that many ethnic groups have been typecast. I can only thank God that I lived long enough to unleash the prejudices that were ingrained in meat a young age when I lived in a bubble.

Thank you, Jonathan and for being candid. I think the magic word is significance. coming from a family of non believers, I believe the world was created to signify something or someone as the ages progressed; prehistoric, stone age renaisance etc. Man is always searching for a meaning of Life.

Thoughtful and insightful assertions this poem expresses, Ralph. Tolerance is often a word not practiced, and rarely preached. Strong poem, my friend. May love light your path always.

Hi Freddie: Hopefully there will come a time when society and the media changes to alter this dilemma.

Ralph, it is my belief that most non Muslims feel the same way. They really don't care what another persons religion is. All religions are founded on love peace and understanding. There will always be zealots. Enjoyable read:)

Hi Daniel: the majority of terrorism is happening in North Africa. Muslims are more organized in the USA. Having been in Libya, Algiers and Morocco; I can attest to that.
