Dizzy Took a Walk
He was born Desmond
back in the hollers
Pa did it all
For a few dollars
They called him Desi
But that one was took
Changed it to Dizzy
A lesser known hook
He grew quick and strong
And agile to boot
His Pa ran a still
That garnered the loot
Dizzy had talent
At making the brew
He sampled it himself
Each hour or two
So he grew up loose
And limber they say
He could dance the day
And the night away
He got sick one month
With shivers and tears
Found out with surprise
He'd been drunk for years
So when he got well
He just took a walk
He somehow stayed loose
And that boy could talk
He danced and he talked
For twenty some years
Sober as a judge
And empty of fears
If you should see him
Somewhere down the road
The Holler says, "Hey,
Keep totin' that load"
