Distant Together
That distant bend where we first met
eyes played games and changed to stars
hearts rocked hard to be let out of the cages
skin ignited sparks that could consume a forest
warmth that could melt primitive glaciers
visions of love, flowers and paradise seemed distant
but we shot straight to achieve and live in them
Night after night, year after year
you sleep beside me sunken deep into the pillow
still I can’t reach out my palm to touch your hair
the rough tumble of life
the personality quirks, familiarity, habits
and the need for individual space
colluded to deepen the chasm that came from nowhere
sorcerer time did cast a spell on our love
doused our once incandescent flame
withered the bleeding red rose
Wish we could once again be distant strangers and
set fire ablaze with glances fanned by electric touches!
But guess we are destined to live and grow distant together.
