Distant Shores
In my mind the salt air is strong again
and I row the boat with others toward those
distant shores where we take up sword and axe
against those living there, people Lief chose.
We have done it before and such prizes
reward us greatly. Lief leads us all and
follow him in adventure, Our dragon
breaks the waves as we go to a far land.
My shield rests to my left on edge of the
side's rim It's secured between double boards
and shows its face to wind and sea. The sail
flaps itself in the wind held by strong cords.
Sail’s flame breathing monster now talks to us.
I have double horn helmet and carry
sword at my side. I follow Lief to where
Odin leads him in land raid most scary.
The cold north wind blows hard against my face
spirits are high, singing our voices soar
The salt air is strong in my mind just now.
Would to god I could follow Lief once more
