Notes About The Poem

Dishwasher

I have an Ultra Quiet with a whir.
Frigidaire 24" Built-In White Dishwasher,
Energy saver, with hot and cold stir.
For a while it did purr.
Oh yes, they do make a dishwasher.
Naïve people believe what labels sell.
I use a lemon scent liquid gel
Those states; "No" pre-washing,
Leaves dishes sparkling.
All lies, it makes the dishes look like hell.

I have hard water in my home,
So, the liquid soap makes no foam.
Barnacles have formed,
Heating elements deformed.
It’s getting so old; I just don't know.
I think it can do the job, but woe.
Baskets are crumbling with rust, no more glow.
It’s ready to blow and overflow.

It’s an Ultra Quiet with a snore,
Frigidaire 24" Built-In White Dishwasher, for
Energy saving, but No, not any more,
I do need a new dishwasher to match my décor.
I'm tired of this dish washer, I’m done, I want it out the door.

This made me laugh out loud. Your first stanza was my favorite. There are too many buttons to press on the door of mine. How about, "Open, Fill and Shut" ? I have dishwasher stress as well. Next thing you know dishwashers will need remotes to work, then I will have to break out the paper plates. I'd like to copy this and tape it to my kitchen cabinet. It made me laugh and laugh. It was so darn clever, what a perfect thing to write a poem about.

Sounds like that dishwasher of yours has lost its sparkle, Eve :) I've never had one, and have no intention to, especially after reading this :) ~ Best regards // paul

With what a marvellous truthful voice you talk about these already outdated machines. It has also happened to us with our Brother Printer parts for this old model no longer available. Evie my tea break poems is book of the day tomorrow and there is a lot more mentioned about you how your customer reading is five out of five, how much your readers love the last book you published and more. Kudos. My friend.

Cute one. I know what it means when they get old and are beyond repair as I am now getting to the point of repairs no longer necessary. LOL..Thanks for sharing this one and for dropping by my page. Sara

Thank you for the complement. Oh, Anne-Lise, but a true story. I've decided not to buy another one since this last one was bought a few months before Roper passed. And Yes, I do have a water softener and that even went out a few months ago... I was just helping a little. Blessings my dear

Hello, Jo, it was first a personification verse, but since everyone else wrote as the speaker I decided to change it, never know what the person is looking for. That is why I haven't been writing for contest until now. Hugs my friend

Lovely ode to a dishwasher. I had ages ago. We had to repair it several times. Now it's just for storage of bags.

I should use it also for storage. I refuse to buy another. Everything has only so many lives and I'm getting to old to argue with the machine, besides it's only me and I only use a handful a day so easier to do them by hand with dishsoap and a little bit of bleach. I am very picky. Hugs my friend
