Sometimes quotes are all that we leave behind... quote by poet I told them I'm tired now time stands still a casual acquaintance without breaths death is not gracious just an unfaithful companion sorrowful sombre soul slumbers bound to uncharted waters I'm drowning.. loyal morning birds chant mournful melodies on repeat strumming to heartbeats mishmash medley of images reverberate repeatedly regretful reminders leave an emptiness behind echoes float like ghosts.. I can hear a billion souls but I'm deaf free from those bitter and remorseful ignorant uncultured without realisation of words unspoken what could have been should have been but was not it's too late regret is an unfaithful belief loved ones stare upon my grave shivers and silence anguish and grief pain and relief I'm paralysed unable to rise to wipe their tears and fears.. craving to have one more chance to make amends to express my emotions to show greater devotion it's too late nothing is immortal love we share only a memory in times when my scent reappears smile that I existed love with all of your heart.. I was never lost never found misunderstanding led to impassive pretending I became too preoccupied building walls they failed to overcome and conquer yet I was no fortress.. legacies left behind reveal with time words written words unwritten surreptitious or controversial unimportant for remembrance die with me maybe grim reaper will listen...

I am in awe of this stunning, emotive, poem, SO. Which line to highlight would ignore the rest of this soulful, plaintive poem that is filled with the artistry of a poetic master. Congratulations on your win. Death is always a tough subject but you have handled it with skill and grace, my friend! Blessings for each day of your life and the work of your hands.

Death is not gracious - just an unfaithful companion', is that because it comes unexpectanly and asks the grim reaper to take you as and when he wants.....'what could have been, should have been, but was too late, , is an unfaithful believer' - Death for me is an experience that I dread. An excellent write So Blessings, Jennifer.

Wow... this got to me Silent One. In my humble, unlearned opinion, it's the best poem I've read of yours so far! Perhaps just because it was one I could understand at my level but I do love this so much! Faving. "I became too preoccupied building walls they failed to overcome and conquer yet I was no fortress.." Wow. Xoxo

That song in Supernatural was one of my favorite moments in the show. LOVED the music, the actor the interactions with Death the character. The whole premise they brought. And Billy ( the character who sang the music and later became Death herself) is amazing. I stopped in to read you and a few other favorite poets. I am off writing music as you can guess. My latest is a country rap album. ( And its amazing!! ) Love this poem! I give it a 10. ( as you know Death I have stared in the face)

That is why it is paramount that we live life. Live the best of it and be happy. Don't hold back emotions, wants, yearns, care, thoughts, love. Feel it, every inch. Say it, tell them. Because time is what no one has in abundance but regrets we do. Death is a long lasting pain, not only to those in grief but to whoever lost their lives. Sometimes we never heal, because there were a lot of things unsaid and undone. Lots of promises unfulfilled. I heard a saying " In order to get past a pain we nee-

A bigger pain to suppress it." What bigger grief is there after a soul no longer breathes? What amount of grief could surpass that? Even the death of an enemy or demons would not give us closure. "death is not gracious just an unfaithful companion." One who is never loved or invited? One who I do not find peace in it's touch, words or presence? That's never a companion. Great writing dear Silent. Always.

Endless seas of grief, washing the moments in heartbreaking need... a story of what despair must mean, but I can only know that God is in control when the time comes, I believe and I believe so surely that there will be a new life coming. God bless you always, sweet friend. Your poetry is always amazing. Love, Gina

Woah, dear silent one, this one is a soul-moving poem! Somehow the emotions and sentiments crawled upon my nerves in a hypnotic way and played certain flashbacks..Death is indeed an inevitable truth, but what haunts me the most is when life and human tendencies separate closest bonds. It is said that all the moments are replayed in front of our eyes when we are near the brink of last breaths..everything, remorse, guilt, regret, agony and much more..a person feels everything and nothing at once.. I absolutely love all the emotive essence here, especially these lines "I was never lost never found misunderstanding led to impassive pretending", "regret is an unfaithful belief", "in times when my scent reappears" Such exquisite alliteration and poetic magnificence throughout.. So glad to be reading your heart-touching words after a long while, hope you are doing well. Sending light and best wishes ~

This one reads like a good contender for the contest. Death comes to us all and the best thing to do is be prepared at all times. Way to go in writing this one. Sara K

Haunting but so poetic, with brilliant metaphors, imagery, alliterations etc. youv written a free verse that is so moving dear silent one and i cant help but think of death, death something that scares me, especially losing loved ones. And your way of writing about it, is so emotive and soul hitting! Powerful poem, with so many emotions so many thoughts, i bet we always wish we could have done better when its the end, but somehow experiences shape us to be who we are, and more devotion etc, we

Live in a world that sees not beyond unspoken and unsaid, and so much remains within suppressed as feelings forgotten because of lack of empathy, and mindless nature of those around. Funny that so many have so much to show and say when we are gone. Having to face so many deaths this year, i keep thinking of all that and this poem truly hits a deep part of my soul! “misunderstanding led to impassive pretending I became too preoccupied building walls they failed to overcome and conquer yet I was no fortress..” those lines say so much… and I believe this is one of your best once again and i am not being biased! I love the cadence and wordplay! And what youv deliveded is touching. Best wishes always
