Diamonds
I sit. Silence envelopes me and I want to scream to quiet it.
Time, is it fleeting or standing still? I can’t tell.
Escape is in the imagination and I will mine to commence.
I am dancing…flashes of red as I swirl to the beat.
I feel the heat as the music pulsates through me.
Faster and faster, blending the colors and sounds into one, then like a vapor it’s gone.
I stand facing the ocean. Water nips at my toes, its coolness bleeds into me.
I look at its vastness, and feel small.
I wonder what secrets lie within. Should I call it morgue or treasure house…perhaps a fishbowl of the living? The waters are murky, death black, but wait, sunlight has arrived. White, dazzling, I cup my hand to shade my eye so I can view its intensity. A million diamonds dance upon the blackness and I smile.
