Depths of Moon

I do not want sweet pretty poems Of unmarked sky where fancies roam Give me the bones of ghosts to haunt Sweet pretty poems, I do not want I've had enough of gilded gold Whose pretense of value is sold Until blunt plainness calls its bluff Of gilded gold, I've had enough My bent soul knows dark luscious gloom Exotic agony which blooms In savage tears of volcanoes Dark luscious gloom, my bent soul knows In want I wait for depths of moon Alluring beyond shallow noon Mystique only midnight creates For depths of moon, in want I wait. 6/05/20

Wow! I hadn't read this gem earlier. Indeed you've made this form look easy with the natural flow of words. The best part is that those are some really honest emotions which I totally agree with. Congratulations on getting a top win Michelle! Keep writing and inspiring :)

As I hinted at in my previous comment, I love the line "Until blunt plainness calls its bluff". Nice to see some justice done for this excellent poem 2nd time around. Enjoyed having another read. Enjoy your day, Michelle

I will be plain and blunt, Michelle. This is excellent poetry. Like Tom said, you make the challenges of the swap seem so easy and smooth. Good word choices to describe the superficial: gilded, pretense, shallow. Also, the dark: my bent soul, dark luscious gloom, and (my favorite), savage years of volcanoes. Great writing; I think this deserves a high placement ~ John
