Depth Perception

From corners of silver lakes, you shimmer In glancing ripples, fluid treasure awaits And I, diving for pearls, a swimmer Tangled within your illusion of depth Until the fragile surface separates Ghosts of tarnished gold grows dimmer As mirages of you fall to shallow fates. 8/14/21 First Place Julyme contest Poem of the Day 8/16/21

This is such a WOW poem, Michelle. I just love how you juxtapose your imagery of the ephemeral (shimmer, illusion, ghost, mirage) with the precious (silver, pearl, gold, treasure) and the implied trajectory of knowing a person in a deeper, more meaningful way. Loved your rhymes also,, and the way your cadence feels like ripples on a lake. So happy to see such quality writing earn you a trophy and POTD, my artistry sib :^)
