Dented Cans

To many, a child in the nineteen fifties dented cans were important we used them in various ways they became our childish telephone stretched across a room connected by a long piece of string we had rubbed with candle wax it never really worked... but we never cared we would stand empty dented cans around the house and place them strategically... our own little army then scurry from room to room carrying a board with two nails buried halfway a rubber band between them used as a trigger where clothes pins were launched trying to defeat this army of cans but, our most important love for dented cans...was our mom knew they were cheaper to buy from the neighborhood market and we were able to eat that day 1/5/18 contest Dented Cans

Frederic, I LOVED this, and in no way is mine better than yours. Probably yours is better!! Also, I love the nostalgic ring to it. I rarely win with this judge, so I bet you will win, my friend!!

I hear you Frederic....I can relate. We need to teach our children the simple pleasures that can be had with imagination instead of letting them waste away their time and their eyes on video games that leave them drained. Just my opinion. My granddaughter loves the fort I made her with a colorful purple sarong draped around a large tray table. It has her hidden treasures inside...of course she is only 5. Never too early to spark the imagination in a child. I adored this nostalgic trip down memory lane where this lovely poem took me. Mahalo, Connie : )
