Deluge

take one drop of rain
multiply it; speculate,
all that emotion
a little that gives so much,
if only that it was love.

Dear Harry, It's so nice to hear from you again. Surely it would take deluge of "raindrops" to create strong emotions. Rather than the sadness that comes with tears, how wonderful it would be if we could "multiply" love. This is a beautiful tanka, Harry. You have always been one of my favorite poets on the site, but we all need a break now and then. Hope you are enjoying life! Love you, Carolyn

I like to think of the rain as God's tears and they truly are a gift containing love and the life blood of our planet. Sometimes he loves us so much those tears can barely contain his sorrow. I really enjoyed this piece and the amount of thought you put into it.

OUTSTANDING metaphor or I guess contrast, since there is so little of that effect in the world with love these days. this was really well thought out. One of your best tanka ever.
