Deliver me - Isaiah 55

He wasn’t thirsty nor did he yearn for food For he had already found nourishment in Your words He didn’t spend money on things that did not satisfy But he clothed the naked Housed the homeless Sought healing for the sick As You asked He gave his ears and listened to Your words Promises of an everlasting covenant, faithful love He united people The masses sought unification through him They were drawn to the light in his eyes His kind smile He had a way with people, but You already know that I’m sure Omniscient. He looked for You Found You within the walls of our community church Witnessed Your presence in the heart of his wife Your protection in his happy and healthy children You tell the wicked to forsake their ways and unrighteousness thoughts That You may have mercy on them You save Your mercy for the wicked and forget to take care of the good I asked You to give him peace and You answered my prayers with death Did he accomplish all that You desired? Was the purpose for which he was sent to earth already completed? You command me to go out in joy, lead forth in peace But my soul has been crushed My faith locked behind the steel walls of anger Sorrow its guard I am thirsty but cannot drink I am hungry but will not eat For it was the same hand that fed him that numbered his days My Heavenly Father Deliver me from the evil of Your ways
