Delightful Christmas Doings

Kaleidoscopes of color, lights sparkling in the night. Children excited, stand in awe as they get their first sight. All dreaming of Santa and toys and maybe get their first bike. Parents tired but still anxious to go through town on a hike. Back at Maw Maw's we open presents so fine. So thankful that everyone's safe at this time. We pray for our soldiers protecting our line. "Lord let them come home safe, we ask Thee Savior Divine." The midnight comes round, Santa's nigh on his way. We must go to bed or have havoc to pay. For Santa won't come if we're still wide awake. But mom's still in the kitchen with cookies to bake. The morning dawns brightly this fine Christmas day. And we're up so early, we feel we must play. But first says my Maw Maw you know we must read. About the real meaning of Christmas and Jesus who we need.

Marty, This is a beautiful Christmas tradition. So often the meaning of Christmas is forgotten with all the giving and excitement. Your poem is very good. We had that tradition, too. But it was usually about 12 days before Christmas when we gathered with a few neighbors to read it and then go caroling in the neighborhood. We had fun and the people we sang for loved it. One year, they had treats on hand to share. We were so surprised. I really love Christmas time. Lovingly, Dane Ann
