Delicate Buttercup

Across the wide meadow of verdant green, splashes of pastel pink waved in the breeze. One of the lovliest wildflowers I've ever seen appeared to ebb and flow like restless seas. Delicate, the buttercup, its veins finger-traced. This wildflower beauty with nectared center stands patiently waiting with an upturned face, welcoming pollen seekers with, "Please enter." Enmass they flourish as a grand gift of Nature. Growing in profusion, untended, they live and die. They've inspired artists to paint their portraiture, and innocently open their petals to the butterfly. April 12th, 2017 Ode to a Flower(s) Contest Shadow Hamilton

Thank you for this gem my friend. My mother's favorite flower was the buttercup. She loved that bright yellow and said that it reminded her of the sun, warmth and safety. A7 and a new fav.. Thanks my friend...

Absolutely beautiful Lin. They have also allowed the sun to reflect their beautiful yellow color on the chins of many children bringing smiles to their faces as your poem does for us.

Merci, Chris. Your thoughts are always welcome. Buttercups have left their trace on my nose as well, but worth the pollen stains to inhale their scent.

Thank you Lin for this lovely, delicate poem. I used to love buttercups as a kid and your image of them ebbing and flowing 'like restless sea' brought them back in my mind's eye; but what I like most about your poem is how it gently opens up to us, and to the butterfly:) Amitiés

Thanks so much, Anne-Marie. I think some of the most beautiful flora are wildflowers.
