There are soft whispers only I can hear coming from shivers deep within my soul, "Save me from that which I most fear. Hostility around us that we can't control." My heart beat more rapidly in its confusion. Though sheltered, I couldn't decrease its pace. The world continues to proliferate delusion ~ cause for the woeful state of the human race. Brutish rulers sit on pedestals as their throne while innocents must claw in the dirt to survive. Where is another David who will hurl the stone, to free my heart and soul and keep hope alive?

It should, but too many prefer to be greedy and power hungry. Thank you, Jay.

Congratulations on this poignant poem Lin. It does feel some times like an up hill battle slaying our Goliath's in this world. I'm not familiar with all of these categories here on Poetry Soup but this is a very well penned piece and I am happy that it was well recognized.

In this time of tragic events, it'll take more than one person to right the wrongs, unless that One has had enough of the need for greed some have. Hurl all the stones you want at those who say they seek peace, but worm their way into fooling those who believe that BS. Thanks, David.

so it is that the metaphoric "giant" imprisons us all lest we hurl the stones of truth into an endless vacuum

As if there are bars on our windows and tape across our mouths. We can hurl stone after stone, but they get sucked up and thrown back at us. Thanks for your thoughts, John.

Lin, your poem echoes the silent cries of a troubled soul amidst a tumultuous world. The vivid portrayal of fear, confusion, and the harsh realities faced by innocents creates a poignant narrative. The plea for another David to rise and bring hope resonates powerfully. Your words serve as a call for change and resilience against the overwhelming odds. A compelling piece! - Blessings, Daniel

Thank you so very much for your insight, Daniel. So many things that have always been right with the world are being overshadowed by greed and power. I'm delighted that you also see it as a compelling call for action.

profound poem, Lin. I, too, sometimes wish for a modern-day Goliath to save us from the prevailing hostility of our world. Enjoyed the read...have a great evening, Sara
