I am As I gaze up towards the universe I am As a fading star lingering in the night I am Lost inside the twilight's whispered dreams I am Reality inside tomorrows twisted illusions I am Without purpose I am Nothing, nothing at all I am One with not even a reason to die I am The one who sold his insanity I am Alone and so very afraid Eating the dirt and decay infiltrating my solitude grave

LIke CArolyn, I love the format of this one, how you give it such lovely flow in its pattern. The last line, so pessimistic. But all in all, I really loved it!!

This is a creatively unique form you have developed here and it adds to the flow of your words very much, Arthur. (Emily Dickinson mused similarly in her poem "I'm Nobody'), but you go beyond her words to remind us that those who are alone and afraid sometimes turn their thoughts to death. Excellent in both concept and execution! Hugs, Carolyn

Hi Arthur! I am amazed the sentiment in this poem. I've been there and hope you don't really believe all that you said here. Have a little glass of wine, listen to some happy music, do a little dance...and thank God for your wonderful talent. Carole

This is so very strong and powerful in its simplicity, but it's also so very dark and sad. And eating me away because I recognize it all so much and can relate.
