Notes About The Poem

Listen to poem:

Debt

there’s nothing glamorous or charming
about being in debt
about being behind and in arrears
with dues hanging over our head

but somehow i’m inclined
to feel a ripple in my velvet
a tingling warmth in the caress
of being indebted to you

and maybe one day
i’ll hear you whisper
that you’re ready
to cash in on my debt

Ohhh...This is so beautiful, Line. This is the kind of debt we don't mind - such a subtle differentiation! I truly loved it - so meaningful! to my faves, Dear Poet. Love ~ Mala

I like how your poem subtly differentiates between being in debt to someone and the acknowledging of your debt to someone. Cheers - Gary

Not all debts are financial, as your last lines aptly show. Nicely written, Line.
