Death of the Ego

I never thought they would figure me out How could they find me in the layers of illusion? I never thought one could completely turn about So many pleasures, I kept them in confusion Now after all these years, it has come to this I push the same buttons, but their minds start to think They’ll kill their ego in their search for pure bliss I flash the bright lights, they don’t even blink They’ve turn to a silence, and peace as they start Repelling my luring by turning their backs Inside they are peering, down deep in their hearts They’re through with my lust, they see what it lacks It was a great run, we sure had some fun, I’m crucified like Christ; they now live through God’s Son.

appreciate your words, Bill. Crucifying the ego is an ongoing battle for me. Your sonnet is well crafted.
