Death I Do Not Fear

If I should die
Before the dawn, overcome
by a morbid scene. Rise up!
My soul – step to the Light!
And the brighter dream heart
Keeps. Caged men may be subjects
Of time, forced to obey and
Bend, but the spirit once freed minds
No such rules, will love where it
Wants~ or offend. So, laid down I may be – cleaned,
Drained and perfumed—beyond then, life’s hurtful
Rhetoric~ nevermore be gloomed.

Hello Joseph :-) After Death! As far as I know, it depends on two things: first, Allah’s mercy and will; and second, what a person did — in word and deed — before his/her death. Please, note that childhood is excluded from this concept, because, children (all young children, kids) are not held accountable. Because, kids die before reaching the age of puberty; they enter Paradise in peace.

Reading this l am reminded of John Donne's poem 'Death be not Proud,' where he affirms that Death is only temporary sleep before entering a life eternal. Men may be forced to bend and obey, but the soul is free of all such restrictions and can be free of life's hurtful rhetoric. Quite well written.

Thank you, Valsa; the only new thing in poetry is one's personal voice...and that is everything! A wonderful comment. Thank you.
