Death Has Spared Me Again

On a bench of a shady park I reflcted the goodness of a sinless heart, doing right, hurting nobody; but the blessing never came to reward me! Tasting tears that a desprerate man cries, " Job is not me! He was too patient and humble! He was temped by Satan and tested by God in the harshest ways! " People who have no faith prosper, they delight in gold and pleasure, " I am condmned to live a miserable life, never hoping that desire is fulfilled by a wish! I have been reduced to rags, not being able to afford any luxury... come Devil, show me how to amass a fortune! " The next day sitting in the same spot, a stranger in his sixties approached me, " I heard that you are in need of money, I am dying of cancer and I am looking for an heir: are you interested of being one starting today? " I looked at him skepkically, then nodded... what he offered me was riches I never had, " Why are you being so generous and picked me, sir? Who has told you my whereabouts? Nobody ever cared!" He stared at me grinning, " I've known you since your teens: you have given all away and leaving you dry...your well needs water!" I looked up and grinned in doubt and disapproval, " There must be a catch! What do I have to do to become rich? " " Do nothing, all is done for you! " he replied with confidence, then he handed me a certified check in an envelope and said, " Deposit it in any bank and after three days have a blast! " I thanked him with a handshake and he walked away briskly! " World, I am rich! Spread red carpets and shout cheers! Even kings must bow to me! I am the most powerful man! Lustful ladies fulfill my desires: bracelets, necklets and rings with precious stones are waiting for you! Obey my commands!" Such a transformation by choice gave me a new identity; friends and people were kinder and admired my wealth, I had become their god, and I embodied that false image... vanity was overwhermingly felt and shown to defy Heaven! Arrogance, restlessness and animosity took hold of me, how could one so meak turn into a beast? It as inexplicable! I was changed forever and this sudden change demanded loyalty! Did the Devil plan this scheme and chain me to avoid my escape? The days that followed were horrible, thieves broke into my mansion at night and took everything of value, but spared me from harm...their laughter made me shiver; I had returned to nothingness, a nobody that all ignored! If the mercy of the burglers had not been there, I would have been dead; why did they have pity on me? It couldn't have been just mercy, I felt the powerful presence of a supernatural being breathe into me... I lay upon my bed and thought deeply..." Death has spared me again! " Written on 6/21/2017
