Death, Be Not So Hurried

'The boundaries dividing Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?’

not yet have I said farewell
so, I turned Death away
ignoring his knock on my door
but his cold hand persisted
"you've come too soon," I cried ~
"Death, be not so hurried"
my plea was made in vain 
daylight wanes in darkness
a requiem hymn 
sung by weeping mourners

Your accolades, along with the others who've commented are enough of a prize for me if this one doesn't place in a contest. I'd rather have the thumbs up from several poets I respect than from one.
