Death and I

During the funeral of a beloved friend,
I encountered death the other day.
He stood tall
Imposing
Majestic 
Not threatening at all.

Encouraged by his look,
I, hesitantly approached him and dared to ask:

" Why, oh mighty death, are you after us humans? "  

He looked at me rather surprised and then, smiling, gave 
His reply: 

"From where I stand my friend, it is you who are 
after me and not I!"
