Dear Shakespeare

Dear Shakespeare, How did you manage? I remember reading Rome and Juliet at fifteen. Tragic it was; Yet a beautiful tale A tale of two lovers unknowingly saving generations to come. Dear Shakespeare, How did you imagine that? I remember reading Hamlet Tragedy again it was So sad yet so alive One could actually imagine being there. Dear Shakespeare, How did you write that? I remember reading Macbeth Dark, dark story Intriguing at the same time. A woman’s power diluted by a man’s foolishness. Dear Shakespeare How did you manage? How did you imagine that? How did you write that? How I would love to be the bearer of such a mind How I would love to write half as good as you. Dear Shakespeare, Here is to you; The greatest writer, The writer who inspired me, The writer whose work 398 years later still flows. Dear Shakespeare, With a glass of champagne here is to you And here is to me for half of your work, I’m yet to read and learn from. So again Shakespeare here is to you. The greatest writer of all time.
