Dear Poetry Soup Friends

I have a frightening mental block, Poetic reserves lost, no stock, My mood is down and damp, My hand has constant cramp, Imagination not worth a dime, Brain all mushy, turned to slime, Fantasy faded oh dear oh dear, Inspiration none, it’s gone I fear, Funny, horror, politics, history or love, Blankly, see grey cloudy skies above, My thoughts are less than dazzling, Stop me, for I think I’m babbling, My poetic sanity is somehow unraveling, But hey, just made up a rhyme, Guess all I need is time! My muse just texted me, she is on a plane back home!

Hello Jennifer ... this is the story that affects almost every writer and as the wheel turns, the light that is dim will suddenly shine bright again, and you've proved this - thanks again Jennifer - Lindsay

That's a delightfully cute rhyming poem, Jenny:) When mental block sets in an alternative is to "doodle" with words. That sets the ball rolling again. I rarely suffer from it, but instead I suffer from lack of time :) In fact I have had to sacrifice Soup to other priorities. ~ Warm regards and hugs, my friend // paul

Amazing rhyme, unforced and delightfully sensible. I can rhyme but do not make a story or sense, LOL! you proved one can make good poetry no matter quality of mental blocks, clocks, socks, JSE or Dow Jones stocks. shalom, shalom.

Jenn, you have many kindred spirits in this regard on PS, and this describes so well much of my 2021. Though your muse may be wandering, your clever wit and charming style are certainly not on vacation. You always dazzle with your talent and your big heart. Blessings and hugs ~ John

Ha.... ha! Don't feel that this is your unique experience. Such a 'writer's block' is felt by most of the poets and writers. When you confess your mental inertia, you have given a sense of relief to many who pass through such a state. More than that, you have given your readers a chance to smile... Lol

Nothing worse Jennifer than the dreaded writers block, it's that feeling of it's gone! No inspiration, No concentration, I'm so with you here, your poem sums it up quite brilliantly, which is an oxymoron to the subject, but you know what I mean, I hope so, well I do anyway Lol, this has cheered me up, cheers David

Hello Jennifer, sometimes we run out of ideas. Writer's block happens to all of us. I look around for ideas all the time. My ghost writer wakes me up, she gives me a title, I write it down, from the title i create a poem. Hugs. Darlene
